When it comes to New Years Eve, there are typically four options:
A. You’re invited to a house party (the best option, but these tend to severely decline after the age of 25 as people realise they can’t be fucked cleaning up after anyone).
B. You go to some kind of ticketed music event (usually with the addition of pingers).
C. You buy a ticket to some overpriced NYE event at a bar (that you can’t leave, because it’ll be impossible to get in anywhere else).
D. You try to wrangle an Airbnb together with some friends (70% fail rate).
Unfortunately for besties Leslie and Clara, they’ve been unable to find out about any house parties going on or bought a ticket to Betoota’s annual NYE festival on the French Quarter rugby fields, or been quick enough to snap up any of the more available NYE packages floating around.
Which has now seen a desperate Clara proposed a rather desperate suggestion – a $300 NYE ‘Package’ at the Black Fungus Bar & Grill.
“Okay so I do think we need to get a ticket somewhere as I’m not lining up anywhere”, Clare had led with, “I managed to find one in the city.”
“I know it’s a bit exxy but you get a two hour drinks package.” (7-9pm)
“And canapes.” (crackers and cheese)
“Or we could get a bottle of vodka and Moet Chandon for our table.”
“Unlimited mixes though?”
More to come.
