Bored Suburban Mum Shortlists Selling Baby Rompers Or Starting Home Lash Salon To Pass The Time — The Betoota Advocate

Though local Betoota Heights woman Kelly Faulkner [26] had at least had the foresight to know that having a child would be stressful, she hadn’t accounted for the sheer mind numbing boredom she’d experience being a stay at home mum.

As someone who’d largely hated every job she’d been in, mostly due to micromanaging bosses or lack of flexibility, Kelly had imagined that staying at home would be more ‘having the time for hobbies’ and less ‘mindlessly scrolling through Tik Tok and walking aimlessly around the house.’

This unrelenting groundhog day did often have Kelly considering taking whether it was worth biting the bullet and entering the workforce again, but the costs of childcare and the combined risk of having to deal with her toddler having some form of cold/respiratory infection/conjunctivitis every fucking two weeks just didn’t seem worth it.

But fuck me, she’d about to go around the FUCKING BEND.

At least her son Kyle [3 & 3/4] was at the age where he could be planted in front of an ipad for a little while, which may make it possible to work from home, if she chooses her career wisely.

And yes, some extra cash would be pretty nice too.

Taking out her laptop, Kelly starts googling ‘business ideas for stay at home mums’, and finds herself shortlisting a few standout options – making her own range of baby rompers, starting a home salon for brow lamination and lash extensions (she could use her study) or making starting a platter company (she’s very good at arranging charcuterie boards).

“Hmmm.”

“Angel Lashes.”

“Oh that’s taken.”

“Um…Babygirl Lashes.”

“BBY Girl Luxury Lashes.”

“By Kelly.”

“Yeah, that’s the one.”

More to come.
